Webcam mic is making loud humming sound?

I have a Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000. I'm trying to Skype and everything works fine except when I test it you can't hear my voice over this obnoxious loud humming. People I'm chatting with hear it too. I've unplugged the mic and reset it and restarted my computer, all the basics. Help?
